Basic Sanitation

The “pilot project for the implementation of basic sanitation methodologies and strategies in indigenous communities in Colombia, case: Tikuna Nazareth Community – Amazonas”, was an initiative of the CHC in alliance with the Department of Civil Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, which sought to improve the sanitary conditions of the community by improving the supply of drinking water and sewage and the management of adequate solid waste management.
The studies and designs were documented and endorsed by the Association of Indigenous Councils of the Amazon Trapeze (ACITAM), the Ministry of the Environment, Corpoamazonía, the Government of Amazonas and the Mayor of Leticia. The community was in charge of the management in Spain for the realization of this project.
